10 Feb: Daily Star - Duffy ditching retro sound for second album?

Yes I know rumours have been circulating around the net that Duffy is going to dump her 60s sound on her second album... so I figured I'd get the original newspaper article that started these rumours up here for everyone to read. Click the photo for a larger image.

Duffy's a Mod

Grammy winner Duffy is hiding secret ambitions to turn all Mariah Carey on us.

The Welsh wonder, who scooped Best Vocal Pop Album, is considering retiring her trademark retro sound.

A source said: "Duffy and the team around her are very aware how successful she has been by channelling a 60s vibe, but they are already starting to think about album No 2.

“She is keen to explore a Mariah or Christina Aguilera style of album. Rockferry came about through a series of sessions with METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo, 44, picked up the Grammy for his band’s Best Metal Performance, while Paul McCartney showed off a Comic Relief T-Shirt featuring the Beatles. Beaming Adele, 20, made the most of her double win, while BeyoncĂ©’s sister Solange, 22, left, simply brightened up the place. Bernard Butler, and Duffy’s manager had ideas about the direction they should take too.

“On the next record Duffy can afford to be a bit more experimental now that she is assured her position as a singing force to be reckoned with.”

The 24-year-old Bangor babe flew back into Blighty today to gear up for the BRIT Awards rehearsals.

Duffy is up for four BRITs – British Female, British Album, British Single and British Breakthrough Act – and will perform at London’s Earls Court arena.

Also on the bill are Girls Aloud, starring the lovely Cheryl Cole, 25, who stopped for a chinwag with Duffy on Sunday.
