12 Apr: Albert Hall TCT Review,ON VIRGIN RADIO NEXT WEEK!

The below article appeared in the Daily Star. The most pertinent info comes at the end where it says that the TCT gigs will be covered on Virgin Radio next week (Mon-Thurs) from 7pm BST.

SET LIST: DUFFY/PAUL WELLER, TEENAGE CANCER TRUST, ROYAL ALBERT HALL

THE third night in the TCT run and it’s legends versus new as modfather Paul Weller and pintsized chart-topper Duffy grace the stage for the charity.

Duffy’s room-shaking lungs put Shirley Bassey to shame as she purrs through tracks from her No 1 album Rockferry.

A true diva in the making to guitar legends – the entrance of Paul Weller and Ocean Colour Scene’s Steve Cradock gets a standing ovation.

Their appearance, sponsored by The Gibson Foundation, is what the crowd of Weller superfans have been waiting for.

Sitting on stools strumming acoustic guitars, the duo play a surprising set of new tracks and rare Jam B-sides.

Swapping to piano halfway through, Weller, who still looks as sprightly as he did 25 years ago, hasn’t lost his vocal power and receives a resounding applause after every track.

But it’s the encore that really gets the crowd excited. Sauntering back with a you-know-what’s-next glint in their eyes the pair launch into anthems You Do Something To Me and That’s Entertainment. Cracking.

Virgin Radio is broadcasting highlights from the TCT gigs all next week on Virgin Radio’s Most Wanted with Ben Jones, Monday – Thursday from 7pm.
